Viking Mines (ASX:VKA) has identified coinciding anomalies over known mineralisation after the completion of geophysical surveys at the Linka Tungsten Project in Nevada.
The company conducted 2.2km2 of ground magnetics and 0.5km2 of ground gravity surveys to refine the geological model of the project, with phase two already in place and expected to be complete by mid-March.
The gravity survey exposed a density contrast between mineralised scheelite bearing garnetite and host rocks.
Targets identified from areas returning gravity highs will be implemented in a field assessment and ranked for further exploration.
Notable structures identified through the volcanic cover in these surveys are trending northeast.
CEO Julian Woodcock says the company can see both geological contacts of mineralisation and potential targets for gravity anomalies from the geophysics surveys.
“The occurrence of gravity highs coincident with areas of known mineralisation at Linka Main and Conquest demonstrates that the technique can resolve areas of increased density,” Woodcock says.
“We can now use this methodology to generate additional targets across the project for further evaluation.”
