Viking Mines (ASX:VKA) has defined another gold anomaly, more than 300m long, at the Bifrost Project in Western Australia, after receiving the remaining assay results from an auger drilling program.
The more than 300m long and more than 40 parts per billion (ppb) gold anomaly sits within a more than 700m 20ppb gold anomaly. A weak pathfinder association has been determined with silver, mercury, and selenium, however the anomaly is predominantly gold only.
Viking Mines says the combination of the gold and pathfinder elements have been used to design the follow-up drilling program to test this target.
The company is continuing to advance exploration work with the aim of discovering new gold deposits on the Riverina East Project, formerly known as the First hit Project.
The following activities include completing geological logging of reverse circulation drillholes, delivering samples to the laboratory for analysis, and completing high-resolution magnetics geophysics to support targeting and structural interpretation.
The aim of the geophysical is to provide focus areas for follow-up drilling over the expansive target area.
Further, Viking intends to complete the underground mining assessment for the First Hit Mine.
This news comes after Viking Mines defined a more than 400m long gold anomaly late last month. The anomaly, containing more than 40ppb gold, overlaps with a 400m long 30 parts per million arsenic anomaly.
CEO Julian Woodcock says the program has delivered its objective of defining high-priority targets for follow-up drill testing.
“As part of the phase two drill program, we have completed follow-up drilling around VKRC0103 which returned results up to 3m @ 1.5 grams per tonne gold and have also drilled additional holes on traverses 280m and 380m further south, as guided by the auger geochemistry,” Woodcock says.
“Drilling has been completed rapidly, and we are now in the process of logging the drill chips, collecting the samples and delivering them to the laboratory for analysis.”
