Viking Mines (ASX:VKA) has increased tungsten grades by 16 times at the Linka Project in Nevada after completing its first round of gravity separation metallurgical testing on a 1.3% tungsten trioxide sample.
The increase in grade brought the concentrate to assay at 22.9% tungsten trioxide with a recovery of 63.7%.
Viking is conducting additional gravity separation optimisation studies through the use of staged grinding methods to further improve the grade and recovery of tungsten trioxide at the Linka Project.
The company is undergoing strategic discussion with processing specialists Mineral Technologies to analyse modular, low-cost gravity processing equipment required for a quick-start development opportunity.
CEO Julian Woodcock says this upgrade to bring the tungsten trioxide grade to 22.9% in scheelite concentrate through a simple and cost-effective processing method is a “fantastic result” for Viking.
“We are fast-tracking flowsheet development to evaluate low-cost modular solutions and have commenced discussions with processing specialist Mineral Technologies,” Woodcock says.
“Our goal is the quickest development pathway to capitalise on high prices and US support for critical minerals.”
As reported by Mining.com.au, Viking entered a binding term sheet for the portfolio in December 2025, comprising the Linka, Alpine, Long, Terrell, Ragged, and Victory projects.
