Viking Mines (ASX:VKA) has identified ‘high-grade’ drill intercepts from the Linka Project in Nevada, US, after returning the first tranche of digitised results from the historical dataset.
Initial results include 38 drillholes across 1,922m, with the Linka (Main) and Hillside prospects returning 7.9m @ 0.9% tungsten trioxide from 7.6m, 1.5m @ 1.2% tungsten trioxide from 4.6m, 1.5m @ 1% tungsten trioxide from 12.2m, and 9.8m @ 0.5% tungsten trioxide from 61.9m.
Viking is focused on completing a data review and evaluation of the digitisation, with a remaining 32 holes for 959m yet to be returned.
The remaining holes are all located to the northeast of the Conquest prospect.
CEO Julian Woodcock says the dataset highlights the prospectivity of the Linka Project, with “high grades and thick zones of mineralisation”.
“Results such as 1.2% tungsten trioxide (WO3) at Hillside and thick zones at Linka (Main) up to 9.8m wide validate our belief in the project’s potential scale,” Woodcock says.
“Our team is working meticulously to fully capture the value of this historical dataset to allow us to develop 3D geological models to support drill targeting as we plan to commence initial drilling in the June quarter.
“This historical data set effectively shortcuts field work and expenditure, allowing us to focus immediately on high-value targets and de-risk our upcoming programs.”
Viking Mines is an exploration and development company, currently focused on developing its tungsten acquisitions in Nevada, US.
