Vertex Minerals (ASX:VTX) has made seven key operational appointments to progress its plans for the Reward Underground Gold Mine in New South Wales.
Executive Chairman Roger Jackson says the new appointments, who will direct the mining operations, will add to the growing, dynamic Vertex team.
“We are advancing our operational readiness to meet the challenges of commencing mining at the Reward Gold Mine,” Jackson says.
Alan Mills, a qualified chartered accountant, has been appointed as commercial manager. Mills has worked for multinational and ASX-listed companies such as Glencore (LSE:GLEN), Aeris Resources (ASX:AIS), and Newmont (ASX:NEM).
Thomas Cowan has been appointed as senior mining engineer. Cowan has experience in mine planning, drilling and blasting, and ventilation in underground coal and base metals operations.
Carl Clark and Julian Geldard have both been appointed as senior mining geologists.
Clark has more than 30 years’ experience as a geologist internationally and in Australia, while Geldard has nearly a decade of experience in mining and exploration across various commodities.
Meanwhile, Dennis Fernandez, appointed as underground shift boss, is experienced on narrow vein gold within the Lachlan Fold Belt of New South Wales.
Mick Irwin has been appointed as safety and training superintendent, while Casey Robinson has been appointed environmental advisor.
Irwin started working with Vertex at the beginning of this year following more than 20 years in the underground coal mining industry. Robinson started as environmental advisor with the company in December 2024.
