Valhalla Metals Sun Project in Alaska, US

Valhalla Metals acquires Yukon copper project

Valhalla Metals (TSX:VMXX) has commenced its 2026 exploration program at the Sun project in Alaska’s Ambler Mining District, targeting resource expansion at its flagship volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit.

The program follows up on successful 2023 drilling that confirmed continuity of ‘high-grade’ copper-zinc-lead-gold-silver mineralisation beyond the current resource model.

That program returned significant intercepts, including 21.4m at 6.84% copper equivalent (CuEq) within a broader 52.4m interval at 3.3% CuEq.

The 2026 program includes resource expansion drilling designed to test down-dip and along-strike extensions of known mineralisation at the Main Sun and SW Sun deposits.

The company is also undertaking reconnaissance work at the newly acquired Smucker project.

“Resuming drilling at the Sun project comes at a pivotal time, and we are thrilled to see the drill rig turning again,” Chairman Rick Van Nieuwenhuyse says.

“There is incredible momentum building across the Ambler Mining District and throughout Alaska, driven by a national mandate to secure critical metals. Alaska is a premier tier-one jurisdiction, and our work here directly supports the urgent demand for domestic energy and defence supply chains.”

Valhalla is working with AIDEA and its contractors on engineering and infrastructure activities related to the Ambler Road project.

The company is also readying the Smucker project for drilling during the 2027 field season.

The Sun project hosts ‘high-grade’ copper-zinc-lead-gold-silver volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralisation in Alaska’s Ambler Mining District, one of the world’s premier undeveloped polymetallic mineral belts.

Valhalla Metals is an exploration and development company advancing high-grade copper-zinc-lead-gold-silver VMS projects in Alaska’s Ambler Mining District, including the Sun and Smucker projects.
