True North Copper (ASX:TNC) has appointed Andrew Mooney as Managing Director and CEO to lead development programs across the company’s Queensland projects.
First joining the board in August 2025, Mooney holds more than 20 years of experience in leadership roles across the mining sector, working with companies such as BHP (ASX:BHP), OZ Minerals, and MMG (HKG:1208).
OZ Minerals was acquired by BHP in April 2023.
Mooney holds a MBA, Master of Mineral Economics, as well as degrees in mining engineering and applied geology.
His position will play a crucial role in the development of the Mount Oxide Project, leading drill-out activities, while also progressing the restart assessment of the Cloncurry Copper Projects, both located in Queensland.

Mooney says he is looking forward to turning the company’s regional potential into lasting value.
“True North has a high-quality asset base and a clear strategy to deliver value through disciplined exploration, project development and capital efficiency,” Mooney says.
He is succeeding Bevan Jones, who held a crucial tenure to recapitalise and operationally reset the company during an efficient exploration phase.
Chairman Paul Cronin says Jones provided “exceptional leadership” as the company conducted exploration and extensional drilling at the Mount Oxide and Cloncurry Copper Projects.
“On behalf of the board, I thank Bevan for his dedication and contribution, which have positioned True North for sustainable growth,” Cronin says.
“With Andrew’s appointment, the board is confident we have the operational, project and strategic leadership to drive exploration, advance project development, and deliver both short and long-term value for our shareholders.”
True North Copper is a copper explorer focused on developing its portfolio of assets in Mt Isa, Queensland.
