Tribeca expands TAIF with commitment from sovereign wealth fund

Tribeca Investment Partners has expanded the Tribeca Asian Infrastructure Fund (TAIF) with a commitment from an Asian sovereign wealth fund.

TAIF invests in energy transition, transport, digital, and healthcare infrastructure across Asia Pacific, with an equal allocation to developed and emerging markets.

It invests exclusively in liquid, publicly traded securities, providing Asia-focused investors with an alternative to the crowded markets for private assets.

Commenting on the recent mandate, Susanta Mazumdar, TAIF’s Portfolio Manager, says Tribeca sees significant value in listed equities that offer exposure to the growth of Asia’s middle-class, the energy transition, and long-term demographic trends in Asia Pacific.

“Through attractive yields and long-term capital appreciation, listed infrastructure investments can complement a direct investment strategy for major asset owners.”

The expansion of TAIF is a significant step for Tribeca Investment Partners in Asia and follows the launch of the Tribeca Asian Credit fund in Singapore in 2019.

“As we continue to grow our footprint in Asia, I am proud that our capabilities are being increasingly recognised by major asset owners across the region

Tribeca’s Chief Executive Officer Adam Lavis says this mandate from one of the world’s leading sovereign wealth funds is testament to Tribeca’s ability to identify and execute on specialized investment opportunities.

“As we continue to grow our footprint in Asia, I am proud that our capabilities are being increasingly recognised by major asset owners across the region.”

Meanwhile, Ben Cleary, Portfolio Manager for the Tribeca Global Natural Resources Fund will be a panellist on day one at the upcoming International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) held in Sydney from 31 October to 2 November, of which Mining.com.au is an official media partner.

The panel will focus on Technology, Infrastructure and Innovation: Where is the Money Coming from and Going? Cleary a director of ASX-listed Tribeca Global Natural Resources (TGF:ASX) and is also an experienced Cayman fund director.

Mazumdar joined Tribeca earlier this year and brings almost 30 years of investment experience, including 15 on the buy-side. He has managed Asia’s largest infrastructure fund at Invesco, as well as the set-up and management of the Global Infrastructure Fund at global investment management firm T. Rowe Price.

At Tribeca, the infrastructure strategy is supported by Tarun Bhatnagar, who joined from Tokio Marine Asset Management (Singapore), and portfolio strategist Nicola Mok, who was most recently with SeaTown Holdings, a Singapore-based investment manager affiliated with Temasek. All 3 are based in Singapore.

Ragu Sivanesarajah also recently joined as a Co-Portfolio Manager, based in Sydney. He was most recently with Forge Investment Management in Singapore, and previously with AMP, Maple Brown Abbott, and BT.

Tribeca Investment Partners Tribeca is a boutique fund manager with a 25-year history of creating value for investors through the management of innovative and specialised funds.

The firm has been instrumental in ‘corner-stoning’ many transactions in the natural resources sector over the past 15 years and works closely with financial advisors and companies directly.

With offices in Sydney, Brisbane and Singapore, Tribeca is wholly owned by its employees and manages $3 billion across a suite of actively managed strategies focused on equities, natural resources, credit, and opportunistic mandates.
