McLaren Minerals (ASX:MML) has completed an aircore drilling program at its namesake titanium project in Western Australia focused on refining its current strategy and resource modelling as part of three phase work roll out.
The program, designed by ERM Australia Consultants, began on 28 January 2025 and will provide valuable data towards three phases of work.
McLaren says the first phase includes a five-tonne bulk sample that was collected early in the program and has been dispatched to IHC Mining’s laboratory in Queensland for testwork. The testwork will confirm the proposed flowsheet and help refine the operational slimes removal strategy.
This work is expected to take six to eight weeks to complete.
The second phase includes targeting areas within the existing 280 million tonnes @ 4.8% heavy mineral resource in the inferred and indicated category. This program has been designed to support a potential upgrade in confidence, particularly in expanding the indicated category, which currently totals 79 million tonnes @ 6% heavy mineral.
Meanwhile, the third phase includes ongoing evaluation and resource modelling. This decision comes after McLaren completed step-out drilling to the north and east which delineated thick zones of sand along strike of currently known deposition.
As a result, it was decided to delay further drilling planned in the southern extent of the designed grid, with sufficient data collected during drilling activities.
The program has been stopped with the remaining planned holes, primarily lower priority targets, to be completed in due course.
The McLaren Titanium Project, covering 333km2, is located on the western side of the Eucla Basin, adjacent to the Fraser Range in Western Australia.
