Terramin kicks off Tala Hamza drilling

Terramin Australia (ASX:TZN) has begun its drilling program at the Tala Hamza Zinc Project located on the Mediterranean coast of Algeria.

The company said in a statement that the aforementioned work marks a critical step in progressing the project with the initial focus being on geotechnical assessments.

Following the initial scope of work, the company will expand drilling operations,  conducting further resource evaluation as well as infrastructure enhancements to support ongoing project advancement.

The company noted road access to the portal has been further developed improving direct access to the site.

Terramin forecasts a mine life exceeding 20 years where the potential Tala Hamza output is in line with company projections to substantially contribute to global zinc and lead markets.

Zinc uses range from metal products to rubber and medicines. About three-fourths of zinc used is consumed as metal, mainly as a coating to protect iron and steel from corrosion.

Lead components are used in products including paint, ceramics, pipes, plumbing materials, solders, gasoline, batteries, ammunition, and cosmetics.

According to the International Lead and Zinc Study Group, global mined zinc production fell for the third consecutive year in 2024.
