Tambourah Metals (ASX:TMB) has completed the first phase of a detailed aircore (AC) drilling program at the Windidda prospect within its Achilles Project in Western Australia.
The company says drilling was conducted to test for rare earth elements (REEs) and total rare earth oxide (TREO) saprolite potential over an area of 2km by 1.6km, comprising 35 holes for 1,500m of drilling completed by Australian Aircore.
Tambourah notes drilling was designed and based off of historic sampling results which identified REE mineralisation as previously reported in historic drill data. This drilling also highlighted broad zones of shallow, flat-lying clay hosted REE mineralisation during a gold exploration program in 2007.
Saprolite depths were reported to be between 40-80m across the area of the proposed program.
It is reported all samples gathered from the drilling program will be assayed for the full suite of REE, multi-elements, and gold at ALS Laboratory in Perth.
Speaking on the completion of drilling, Tambourah Metals Executive Chairperson Rita Brooks says: “The Achilles district is a known source of green energy metals including Ni-Co-PGE and REE.

The Windidda South prospect has been explored for gold, and the company is looking forward to extending the exploration for Ionic Clay hosted REE. The results of the air core drilling program will be available in approximately 8 weeks.”
The company also notes sporadic historic reverse circulation (RC) drilling to the north of the Windidda South prospect also reported elevated REE grades, with TREO assay grades in saprolite returning up to 579 parts per million (ppm).
Tambourah also reports the completion of drilling comes following the resignation of company Director Ben Donovan who held the office since June 2021, as reported by the company in February 2023.
The company says Donovan contributed to the listing of Tambourah on the ASX in August 2021, as well as the growth and development of the Gold and Critical minerals programs undertaken by the company.
Tambourah Metals is an ASX-listed Western-Australian focused exploration company with a primary objective of rapid exploration and development of critical minerals and gold projects. The company currently holds several ‘highly prospective’ exploration packages including 3 lithium and gold projects in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
The company’s Achilles project is situated in the Northeastern Goldfields region of Western Australia about 200km north of the township of Laverton and about 190km east of the township of Wiluna. The project is considered prospective for nickel-platinum group element-copper and REE mineralisation due to it sitting within the Gerry Well greenstone belt adjacent to the south Collurabbie Project.
Other assets included within Tambourah’s Western Australian exploration portfolio include the Russian Jack, Tambourah Lithium, Nullagine Lithium, and Adam Range projects.
