Tambourah Metals completes airborne EM geophysics survey at Achilles Project, WA

Tambourah Metals (ASX:TMB) has completed a project-wide airborne electromagnetic (AEM) survey at its Achilles Project in Western Australia. 

The company says the survey comprised about 1,098 line kilometres of detailed AEM and magnetics flown over the entire project area to test for conductive geological bodies, such as sulphide accumulations at Achilles, which have potential to contain nickel-copper-platinum group element (Ni-Cu-PGE) mineralisation. 

Tambourah notes the survey also infills the DMP 20km Earaheedy survey, which highlighted a conductor in the southwest portion of tenement E38/3153. This survey will be expanded to complement historic airborne and ground geophysics while directly testing the project-wide prospective magnetic stratigraphy. 

Results generated from the survey will be used to both refine and update existing AEM anomalies and define new anomalies and potential targets further north and east within the Gerry Well Greenstone Belt.

Subsequent interpretation of the results will be available in about 6-8 weeks. 

Addressing the completion of the airborne EM geophysics, Tambourah Metals Executive Chairperson Rita Brooks says: “The Achilles district is a known source of green energy metals Ni-Cu-PGE and REE.

The airborne programs being undertaken by TMB at Achilles is designed to define drill targets for the exploration for Ni-Cu-PGE by the direct detection of conductors which may host economic mineralisation.”

The company also notes the survey utilised New Resolution Geophysics’ “Xcite” system, which represents a helicopter-based system with a depth penetration in the range of 300-500m. This system has been noted in the past to have a history of being successful in identifying conductors for other clients within similar geological settings as Achilles. 

In addition, the completion of the AEM survey comes following the completion of a rare earth element (REE) focused aircore (AC) drilling program completed at the project, as announced by Tambourah earlier this month. 

Drilling was conducted to test for REEs at the Windidda prospect and comprised 35 holes for a total of 1,500m. 

Tambourah Metals is an ASX-listed company focused on advancing and developing critical minerals projects for a decarbonised future. The company’s Achilles project is situated within the northeastern goldfields region of Western Australia about 200km north of the township of Laverton and about 190km east of the township of Wiluna. 

The project is located within the Gerry Well greenstone belt along with the adjacent to the south Collurabbie Project, which is host to a series of Ni-Cu-PGE prospects, including the Olympia prospect. 

Other assets included in Tambourah’s WA-based exploration portfolio include the Julimar North, Cheela, Russian Jack, and namesake projects.
