Sybrandt Van Dyk transitions to Austin’s CEO

Austin Engineering (ASX:ANG) has appointed Sybrandt Van Dyk as the company’s new CEO and Managing Director, as David Singleton steps down and remains as non-executive director.

Chairman Jim Walker says Van Dyk brings operational and commercial credentials to the role, as well as leadership having held executive positions at WesTrac, Macmahon (ASX:MAH), DDH1, and most recently as President of Perenti’s (ASX:PRN) drilling services division.

“He has the additional benefit of having served as a non-executive of the company for the past seven years,” Walker says.

“In Sy, I see a strong and capable leader and I am confident in his ability to continue to grow the business.”

Van Dyk says he will focus on working with the team to strengthen business integration to generate further sales opportunities and carve out additional market share globally.

“Austin’s engineering and design expertise mean we have the best performing mining equipment on the market, and I will continue to focus on leadership in this area,” he says.

Singleton says over the last four years, group revenue has nearly doubled, with profitability up circa 2.7 times.

“I feel immensely privileged to have been part of that achievement,” he says.

“Importantly, we have put in place the foundations that will support continued rapid growth of the business in all our regions.”

Walker adds that since stepping into the role of CEO, Singleton has made an “outstanding” contribution to the growth and performance of Austin Engineering.

“Developing and leading his Austin 2.0 strategy, he has delivered significant product, sales and order book improvements across the group but also connected our business units to make Austin a truly centralised and globally functioning firm,” he says.

The company has also appointed Ian Stone as non-executive director as of 1 July 2025.

Stone is an independent director and is taking over from Chris Indermaur as Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Austin Engineering says Stone has held executive and board roles across a range of sectors including financial services, automotive, travel, and professional education.

Austin Engineering is a global engineering firm that has partnered with mining companies, contractors, and original equipment manufacturers for more than 50 years.
