Sunstone Metals (ASX:STM) continues expanding its Limon gold-silver discovery in southern Ecuador, after conducting drilling at the Central Shoot.
The latest assay results extend the mineralisation at the Central Shoot, as well as define new mineralised areas immediately south of the shoot.
Sunstone Metals, which has a market capitalisation of $30.81 million, says the results from drillhole LMDD047 are considered “encouraging” due to it defining a new mineralised zone on the south side of the shoot, which was suggested by previous drilling.
Drillhole LMDD047 intersected 21.5m @ 1.51 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 6.9g/t silver from 238.5m.
Managing Director Patrick Duffy says the results show the true scale and geometry of the gold-silver system and will help underpin a maiden resource estimate at Limon.
“We are creating value with virtually every drillhole because we continue to expand the known mineralisation and increase our understanding of the Limon system,” Duffy says.
“We know we have established a large, mineralised gold-silver footprint and defining a new mineralised zone on the south side of the Central Shoot continues to show how the Limon mineralisation continues to grow.
“The widths, grades, and very shallow nature of the mineralisation all augur very well for an inaugural resource and open pit mining scenarios that will complement the Bramaderos porphyry discoveries.”
Sunstone Metals has nearly finished the 1,500m drilling program at Limon. Further assay results from seven drillholes will follow over the next several weeks.
Sunstone Metals is a mineral explorer focused on advancing its portfolio of projects in Ecuador.
