Sunshine hits record ‘high-grade’ gold at Sybil

Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN) has reported the highest-grade gold intersection ever drilled at its Sybil project in north Queensland, which the company says confirms the prospect’s potential as a significant low-sulphidation epithermal system.

Diamond drilling at the Francis Creek prospect intersected 4.4m at 57.51 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 23.6m, including a standout interval of 1.1m at 148g/t gold from hole 25FCDD003.

The 14-hole, 1,135m program marks the first modern drill campaign at Sybil in two decades. Drilling has also defined a newly interpreted β€œSplay Vein” structure between the A and Main Veins, which, together with the A Vein’s consistent results, enhances Sunshine’s geological model of the system.

Managing Director Dr Damien Keys said the early success highlighted Sybil’s similarities to Evolution Mining’s (ASX:EVN) 4-million-ounce Pajingo goldfield, about 140km to the south.

β€œWe’re thrilled to have drilled the best-ever Sybil intersection at the start of our first program,” Keys said.

β€œThe vein textures and mineral associations are remarkable, and we’re eager to see what the remaining assays reveal.”

Assays from the final seven holes are pending, with results expected in early November.

Located 135km west of Townsville and 140km north of Charters Towers, Sybil sits within Sunshine’s 100% owned Ravenswood Consolidated Project.

Historical work at Francis Creek has produced rock-chip samples grading up to 907g/t gold and a bulk sample yielding 961 tonnes at 7.6g/t gold.

Sunshine’s broader portfolio in the Ravenswood district also includes the Liontown and Coronation prospects, where the company is advancing a mining study and resource upgrades through late 2025.
