Star Minerals (ASX:SMS) has begun phase two reverse circulation (RC) drilling to further explore the gold mineralisation at its Star of the East Project in Western Australia.
The company says this will add to its knowledge of the geology and grade characteristics of the project and was designed to provide further information on the gold-mineralised structures in the area.
Additionally, this work was designed with the benefit of the results from Star Mineral’s earlier drilling at Tumblegum South and Star of the East, and the company says the work demonstrates its intent to quickly examine and test new projects.
Commenting on the program, Star Minerals Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Greg Almond says: “We are excited to follow up on our first at Star of the East and looking forward to following up on some of the exciting gold results from our first phase of drilling.
We are looking forward to results from this drilling program, and we believe we will be able to expand on the gold mineralisation we have defined from the initial drilling.
“Many of these historic mines, once believed to be mined out, prove to have a significant endowment once modern exploration techniques are employed”
Many of these historic mines, once believed to be mined out, prove to have a significant endowment once modern exploration techniques are employed, and we are confident that will be the case here.”
The company’s further focus is to complete resource estimation work at Tumblegum South, along with technical and development activities at the Star of the East and West Bryah projects.
The Star of the East Project lies 2.2km from the Tumblegum South Gold Project, which has an existing Inferred Resource Estimate of 600,000 tonnes @ 2.2 grams per tonne (g/t) Au.
Star Minerals is an ASX-listed exploration and development company focusing on its copper and gold projects. The company owns the Tumblegum South and West Byrah projects in the Meekatharra region of Western Australia.
