Southern Silver Exploration (TSX‑V:SSV) reports ‘high-grade’ polymetallic mineralisation from underground channel sampling at the Puro Corazon Mine within its Cerro Las Minitas property in Durango, Mexico.
Highlight results include 2.8m grading 665 grams per tonne silver equivalent (AgEq) and 4m grading 367g/t AgEq from the underground workings.
The channel samples were collected from sub‑levels five to 14 in the Puro Corazon Mine, targeting areas of skarn alteration and mineralisation adjacent to the Central Intrusion.
The company collected 230 channels comprising 1,380 individual samples, spaced every 3m and orientated perpendicular to the trend of the mineralised zone.
VP of Exploration Dale Ginn notes that the results confirm the continuity of the mineralised system.
“The underground sampling program at the Puro Corazon Mine continues to demonstrate continuity of the mineralised system and remains open in multiple directions, both along strike and at depth,” Ginn says.
The Puro Corazon Mine has operated intermittently on a small scale since the 1980s and currently comprises a partially completed spiral decline and 14 mining levels extending 220m below surface.
Phase one definition drilling commenced in June with six core holes totalling 2,194m completed to date, with assays pending.
Southern Silver plans to update the mineral resource estimate for Cerro Las Minitas followed by an updated preliminary economic assessment.
