Southern Hemisphere Mining (ASX:SUH) has delivered a resource estimate the company believes will underpin the future potential of the Llahuin Copper-Gold-Molybdenum Project in central Chile.
The resource contains 218 million tonnes @ 0.38% copper-equivalent for 496,600 tonnes of copper, 654,000 ounces of gold, and 12,500 tonnes of molybdenum.
Additionally, Southern Hemisphere delineated an exploration target of between 260 million tonnes and 340 million tonnes, with grades ranging from 0.20% to 0.30% copper, 0.08 to 0.10 grams per tonne gold, and 50 to 60 parts per million molybdenum.
The exploration target excludes the Curiosity-Southern porphyry target. Drilling at this target is scheduled to begin in Q4 2025.
Chairman Mark Stowell says the resource underpins the future potential over a substantial strike of 4km with shallow drilling adding to the resources and prospects.
“This does two things, first: to continue advancing towards mine scale and secondly: the potential of this system that can produce large tonnages at surface over such strike length has a high profitability of substantial copper endowment at higher grades deeper,” Stowell says.
“We see considerable scope for resource growth at Cerro-Feon including the Ferro West magnetotelluric target, and the recent discovery at Ferro South given shallow drilling to date in these areas.”
Southern Hemisphere is aiming to progress towards mine scale open pit configuration.
The Llahuin Project lies near Santiago in Chile and is well served by infrastructure, including roads, electricity grid, and sealed airstrip. The project is a porphyry copper-gold-molybdenum system with associated iron-oxide copper gold mineralisation.
Southern Hemisphere Mining is a critical mineral explorer focused on its copper, gold, molybdenum, and manganese assets in Chile.
