Somerset Minerals (ASX:SMM) has commenced H1 2026 exploration work at the Coppermine Project in Nunavut, Canada, targeting resource growth and district-scale discovery.
A 3,000m diamond drilling campaign is underway at Jura North, testing mineralisation along strike and down dip as well as assessing potential parallel lodes that were highlighted in an IP-resistivity survey in October 2025.
Drilling is also following up on recent ‘high-grade’ intercepts including 42.7m @ 2.69% copper from 15.24m, including 16.8m @ 3.96% copper from 41.14m; and 59.4m @ 1.5% copper from 83.8m, including 19.8m @ 3.54% copper from 117.3m.
The initial results from the current drill program are expected in the coming four to six weeks.
Other activities in the H1 2026 exploration program includes approximately 200-400 infill soil samples at Talisker to refine the drill targets, to be done mid-March 2026, and a drill campaign at Talisker in May 2026.
Managing Director Chris Hansen says that the team is excited to have started drilling again, with recent results demonstrating the potential size and grade of Coppermine’s system.
“What makes this particularly exciting for shareholders is that Jura is only one part of the much bigger Coppermine story,” Hansen says.
“While the drill rig is turning at Jura, we are also advancing Talisker, a standout 17km anomaly that may have the potential to host another significant copper discovery.
“In simple terms, we are not chasing a single target – we are building momentum across a district-scale project with multiple opportunities to create value.”
Somerset Minerals is a copper exploration company focused primarily on the flagship Coppermine Project in Nunavut, Canada.
