New generation exploration company Solstice Minerals (ASX:SLS) reports it has started a diamond drilling (DD) program at the GSP Nickel prospect, as part of its 100% owned Ringlock Dam Licence in Western Australia’s (WA’s) Eastern Goldfields region.
The drilling program comprises up to 2,030m of diamond drilling across 6 drillholes at the GSP prospect and 1 hole at the Ringlock prospect and has commenced with a goal of confirming historical drill assay data from the 1960s and 1970s, which returned massive nickel (Ni) sulphide mineralisation.
These ‘significant’ historical intercepts include 8.01m at 2.4% Ni from 113.39m including 1.52m at 6.8% Ni from 113.39m (GS033), and 2.86m at 2.9% Ni from 166m including 2.13m at 3.5% Ni from 166.73m (GS013).
It is believed that the drilling campaign will aid in better defining the basal/footwall contact in order to gather structural and litho-geochemical data and to provide platforms for downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) geophysical surveys.
Drilling is expected to take about 3 weeks to complete.

Speaking on the commencement of drilling, Solstice Minerals Executive Director, Alastair Morrison says: “The Ringlock Dam area has been overlooked for many years and we believe represents an exciting opportunity. Historical drilling at GSP returned significant nickel sulphide intercepts.
“The Ringlock Dam area has been overlooked for many years and we believe represents an exciting opportunity”
The current drill program and subsequent DHEM surveys using a modern, more powerful system is highly anticipated by the company during a time when battery metals are becoming increasingly important.”
The company also notes that the planned DHEM surveys will investigate for off-hole conductor bodies that potentially represent massive sulphide mineralisation and could deliver further drill targets.
In addition, drilling at the Ringlock prospect will explore a DHEM target that was not followed up by previous historical exploration.
Solstice Minerals is a mineral exploration company that currently has gold and base metal projects situated within the Eastern Goldfields of WA. The company’s Ringlock Dam licence is located within its Kalgoorlie Gold and Base Metals Project about 65km north of the township of Kalgoorlie within the granite-greenstone rocks of the Boorara Domain.
The project’s GSP prospect was discovered in 1969 and has since been the centre of various exploration activities, including rotary air blast (RAB), reverse circulation (RC) and DD, as well as surface and airborne geophysical surveys.
Solstice Minerals has been listed on the ASX since May 2022 and is well-funded with no debt.
