Sipa starts drilling for lithium at Skeleton Rocks, WA

Sipa Resources (ASX:SRI) reports drill testing of lithium targets at its 100% owned Skeleton Rocks project in the Western Australia goldfields is underway.

The commencement of drilling was delayed slightly by wet weather, but the program is now in full swing.

The reverse circulation (RC) drill program will consist of around 10 holes to nominally planned depths of 150m each, angled directly under the geochemical anomalies encountered in the Company’s March aircore drill program.

Halos of lithium and other pegmatite-associated elements (caesium and rubidium) have a limited dispersion around the margins of known deposits (Tanco in Canada and Wodgina in Western Australia), providing focused drill targets.

The targets being tested lie within unexplored greenstone units on the eastern margin of a large granite batholith.

Sipa has all necessary approvals in place to expand the drill program, should it be required based on initial results.

it is great to once again be out testing targets at another one of Sipa’s projects”

Sipa Resources Managing Director Pip Darvall said the program is adaptable based on the results.

“The focused geochemical halos we have identified at Skeleton Rocks are the logical place to commence drilling on a project that is well located in a proven WA lithium province.

“The program can be adapted as we progress based on results, and it is great to once again be out testing targets at another one of Sipa’s projects.”.

Skeleton Rocks is strategically located between the Great Eastern Highway and the Mt Holland Lithium Project currently being developed as part of a joint venture between Wesfarmers (ASX:WES) and Chilean mining major Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile S.A.

The Skeleton Rocks project covers outcropping and interpreted greenstone units prospective for gold, lithium and nickel-copper-platinum group elements (Ni-Cu-PGE) deposits with limited to no previous drilling ever completed in these areas.

Sipa Resources is an Australian-based exploration company focused on the discovery of gold and base metal deposits in Western Australia.

The Patterson North Copper-Gold Project is being progressed in partnership with Rio Tinto Exploration (ASX:RIO), and the Barbwire Terrace Base Metals Project in joint venture with energy company Buru Energy (ASX:BRU).

At Wolfe Basin, extensive base metal anomalism and gossans have provided several targets for drill testing along a prospective horizon over 40km long.

The Warralong Project is prospective for intrusion-hosted gold, lithium-tin-tantalum and nickel-copper in the north Pilbara region in a ‘look-alike’ structural setting to recent discoveries in the district.

Sipa’s Murchison Project covers major structures and prospective geology in prolific greenstone belts within Western Australia’s northern goldfields.

In Uganda, Sipa holds a Retention Licence over an intrusive Ni-Cu sulphide discovery with significant scale potential.
