Si6 Metals (ASX:SI6) is kicking off a 10,000m drilling campaign across its 3 joint venture (JV) projects in Botswana, starting with the Dibete Project.
The $10.96 million market capitalisation company has signed on an experienced African drilling contractor, Mitchell Drilling, to begin the reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling programs.
Drilling is set to begin at Dibete during the first week of September this year and then will move on to the Airstrip Project before finishing up at the Maibele North Project.
At Dibete, drilling aims to extend the known ‘high-grade’ copper-gold (Cu-Au) supergene discovery zone and primary zone anomalies at depth.
Further, the campaign intends to execute Si6 Metals’ strategy of testing targets at Dibete and Airstrip both beneath and along strike of the known mineralisation, alongside infill drilling and drilling to test deeper targets at Maibele North.
In addition, the company aims to upgrade the resource at Maibele North through the current drill campaign, as well as include previous drill programs that are not included in the current Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE).
Commenting on exploration activities, Si6 Metals Managing Director Jim Malone says: “We have some outstanding drilling targets identified from previous drilling and geophysics, and we believe we have barely scratched the surface with our exploration to date.
As the program progresses, we look to test the targets and extensions at Dibete, followed by Airstrip, concluding with infill and testing the depth of the mineralisation at Maibele North. Following which, we will complete the work required to upgrade the resource at Maibele North with the current drilling, as well as including previous work completed by our JV partner that has not been included in the current resource estimation.
We have appointed the highly regarded drilling contractor Mitchell’s to undertake the drilling and have also managed to secure the services of the technical team, who previously worked on our Botswana Project to oversee the program, which is a great result for the company to benefit from the local knowledge of the asset.”
