Environmental solutions provider SciDev (ASX:SDV) has secured a $19.5 million contract to design and construct a groundwater treatment plant packaged for the Rum Jungle Rehabilitation Project in the Northern Territory.
The contract, awarded by privately held McMahon Services Australia, involves the delivery of a 30-litre-per-second treatment plant. The plant is designed to manage contaminated groundwater and pit water from the former Rum Jungle Uranium Mine.
SciDev, which has a market capitalisation of $62.73 million, says the facility will form a critical component of the site’s rehabilitation, which aims to stabilise landforms and prevent acid and metalliferous drainage from entering nearby waterways.
As part of the contract, project works will begin immediately with completion targeted for the beginning of September 2026. The contract also includes an option for a two-year extension covering the initial resourced operation and maintenance of the plant.
SciDev says it is well-positioned to support McMahon Services and the Northern Territory Government in operating and maintaining the treatment plant over the coming 15 years.
