Sarama uncovers new gold trend at MM and MC prospects within 2.9Moz Sanutura Project in Burkina Faso

Sarama Resources (ASX:SRR) has uncovered a new gold trend at the MM and MC prospects, part of the 2.9M ounce Sanutura Project in Burkina Faso, during shallow reconnaissance drilling.

Sarama reports that exploration drilling has returned further significant intersections in near surface oxide material outside the current Mineral Resource. These intersections, including 34m @ 1.65g/t Au, are in a sparsely drilled area at the MM and MC Prospects and open-up a new trend for future exploration.

The reported drilling totals 700m, part of an ongoing more than 50,000m program at the company’s 100%-owned multi-million-ounce Sanutura Project.

Sarama notes the drilling is primarily designed to increase the oxide component of the project’s already large 0.6Moz Au (Indicated) plus 2.3Moz Au (Inferred) Mineral Resource.

A highlight intercept is 34m at 1.65g/t from just 18m in a sparsely drilled area at the MM and MC prospects, which has opened up a new trend that extends for about 1.7km.

Potential for discovery of significant mineralised lodes oblique to the strike of the current resource, which are integral to the gold endowment of the MM and MC prospects.

The company reports that intersections are in shallow, oxide material with high potential to add to the oxide and transition component of the resource.

Results continue to highlight the potential for new discoveries and resource extension in underexplored areas.

Addressing the results, Sarama President, CEO and MD Andrew Dinning commented: “We are very pleased with these results and once again, the current drill program is delivering new, shallow high-value material, building on the new discovery at the Obi Prospect and new high-grade mineralisation within the MM Prospect.

We are particularly excited by the 34m @ 1.65g/t Au intersection which is significant not only because it is in oxide material but also as it is outside the current Mineral Resource.

The results show potential for another new exploration trend featuring oblique and/or blind mineralisation that has the potential to add significant amounts of high-value material to the current Mineral Resource.”

The company’s primary focus is its 100% owned Sanutura Project, which covers an area of 1,420km-square,

The project occupies a commanding position along 70km of strike in the prolific Houndé Belt – Burkina Faso’s pre-eminent gold belt.

It also lies 60km south of Endeavour Mining’s Houndé Mine (5Moz Au); 120km south of Fortuna Silver’s high-grade Yaramoko Mine (1Moz Au), and 140km south of Endeavour Mining’s Mana Mine (5Moz Au), highlighting the significant gold endowment of the Houndé Belt.
