SAGA Metals (TSX-V:SAGA) has mobilised for a 4,000–5,000m diamond drilling program at its Wolverine Heavy Rare Earth Element (REE) Project in Labrador, Canada, as it works towards a maiden mineral resource estimate.
Crews, drilling equipment, and supplies have arrived on site, with camp facilities and supporting infrastructure established ahead of drilling, scheduled to begin this month.
The Wolverine Project comprises nine contiguous mineral licences covering approximately 294.5km², about 12km inland from the Labrador coast. The property is supported by nearby roads, ferry services, and commercial air access.
“Mobilisation is progressing well with the camp, and supporting infrastructure in place to commence all parts of the program in mid-August,” Chief Geological Officer Michael Garagan says.
The program will build on 25 reverse circulation drill holes completed in 2025, which confirmed broad near-surface REE mineralisation across a 1.7km by 1.2km area.
Highlights from the previous campaign included an intercept of 48.8m grading 0.77% total rare earth oxides (TREO) from 1.5m, including 18.3m @ 1.06% TREO. Peak assays reached 2.03% TREO, with heavy rare earth oxides accounting for approximately 24–28% of TREO.
The upcoming program will include detailed geological mapping, step-out and down-dip drilling, evaluation of additional high-priority targets, and geological, geochemical, and metallurgical studies to support the project’s first resource estimate.
“This program will allow us to systematically explore the continuity of ore grade, near-surface mineralisation identified by the two previous drilling campaigns, and create the essential database to advance this project towards a maiden resource,” Garagan adds.
According to SAGA, Wolverine is hosted within the Flowers River Igneous Suite, one of Labrador’s largest known peralkaline intrusive-volcanic complexes.
