S2 Resources secures licences for Jillewarra drilling

S2 Resources (ASX:S2R) announced this morning that the Western Australian Department of Mines, Petroleum, and Exploration has granted two exploration licences to the company’s Jillewarra joint venture.

Environmental approval applications will be lodged this week, which should lead to drilling beginning in July.

The company says the exploration licences cover a 35km strike length interpreted to be part of the Karbah shear zone that hosts nearby operations owned by Westgold Resources (ASX:WGX) and Ramelius Resources (ASX:RMS).

S2 already holds an exploration licence to the north giving it a total of 60km in the shear zone, all of it “undercover and effectively unexplored”

S2 says this is a ‘sighter’ program, aimed at getting an initial understanding of the geology and structure, the depth of cover, and the presence and extent of any anomalous levels of gold and pathfinder elements”.

Two rigs will operate for two to three months during the drilling campaign.

S2 is also progressing a Heritage Protection Agreement for its wholly owned ground, considered a “prospective district-scale target”, to give it tactical flexibility over the next two years.
