Golden Horse Minerals (ASX:GHM) CEO Nicholas Anderson says the company is “not just a one-trick pony” by only drilling holes at its Hopes Hills Project in the Southern Cross Greenstone Belt.
Some 42 reverse circulation holes have been drilled since drilling started in mid-January 2026, which the CEO says reflects the aggressive drill strategy deployed at Hopes Hill.
Speaking at the RIU Explorers Conference in Fremantle, Western Australia, which is being held from 17-19 February, the CEO says the $185.65 market capitalisation company is also “getting in front of everything we need to do” when it comes to its upcoming workflow.
“We’ve got flora and fauna underway. We’re working closely on the heritage with our native title groups. With all this diamond core we’re doing, we’re really starting some serious testwork,” Anderson says.
Golden Horse, which has been listed for 14 months, started exploration work in January 2025.
“What we have discovered is a 1.3km historic pit that was only mined down to about 50m. We have discovered that there is gold in them hills. Every hole we put down has hit mineralisation,” Anderson says.
“So far, it’s 200 holes all in mineralisation. Some of the big hits there you can see on the screen, 60 at two and a half, we had a 40 at four and a half, and some others. That’s Hopes Hill. We also have 20 other regional targets which we’ve been systematically drilling.
“We have seen our first visible gold in our first diamond drillhole of 2026, the Year of the Horse. Get on the horse.”
The Year of the Horse represents vibrant and fiery energy, symbolising adventure, vitality, and momentum, according to Chinese New Year.

Of the 156 re-assays, Anderson says over half graded above 5g/t gold with multiple +10g/t assays to 63.3g/t gold highlighting the upside Golden Horse sees at Hopes Hill.
He says what is particularly exciting is the ‘high-grade’ mineralisation is located within the footwall package, which was previously thought to have hosted lower grade mineralisation.
Given the current gold price environment exceeding $7,000 an ounce, Golden Horse has elected to expedite its 125km drill program for 2026 by turning on an additional reverse circulation rig for regional prospects and a second diamond rig to further test and follow-up the ‘high-grade’ mineralisation intercepted at Hopes Hill and regionally across our Southern Cross Gold Project.
The company presented yesterday (17 February) at RIU. Mining.com.au is an official media partner of this year’s event.
