Rio Tinto offers Primero multi-million dollar contract

NRW Holdings’ (ASX:NWH) wholly owned subsidiary Primero Group has been awarded a $100 million contract by mining giant Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) for work at the Coastal Water Supply Sustaining Project.

Primero will be responsible for the structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation procurement and construction work for the seawater desalination project in Dampier, Western Australia.

This work will also include the seawater intake, treatment facility, and conveyance piping.

NRW Holdings, which has a market capitalisation of $1.27 billion, says the contract is expected to run for one year, kicking off immediately.

Primero Managing Director Michael Gollschewski says this is an “exciting opportunity” as the company continues to reinforce its long-term relationship with Rio Tinto.

Further, NRW’s subsidiary Action Drill & Blast has also secured two blast hole drill contracts at Yarrabee and Cameby Downs for Yancoal (ASX:YAL).

The contracts are valued at $19 million and have a duration of 36 months, with an option to extend.

In conjunction, Golding Contractors has been awarded a contract for civil works by BMA at the Peak Downs Mine in Moranbah, Queensland.

The contract, which is valued at $60 million, includes specialised earthworks, Public Access Road diversion and 6km of piping, combined with expansion of the existing spillway. The contract is due for completion by September 2025.

NRW Holdings is a diversified contract services provider to the resources and infrastructure sector in Australia.
