Rincon outlines gold system at South Tefler, WA

Junior explorer Rincon Resources (ASX:RCR) has confirmed the presence of a mineralised gold system at the Westin prospect within its South Tefler Project in Western Australia.

It comes from a 17-hole drilling program for 3,500m that tested the Mammoth target and the Westin prospect within the project area, following up on a historical drillhole that struck 8m @ 3.85 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 84m.

As part of this program, Rincon drilled 6 holes at Westin. The best intersection from this area came from hole 23STRC034 with 2m @ 1.19 g/t gold from 123m, within a mineralised zone of 19m @ 0.32 g/t gold, 810 parts per million (ppm) arsenic, and 45ppm bismuth from 112m.

Hole 23STRC049 hit 1m @ 1.51 g/t gold from 125m within a mineralised zone of 10m @ 0.38 g/t gold and 552ppm arsenic from 125m.

Rincon says the mineralisation at Westin remains open in both directions along-strike and down-dip, and the results from this prospect have confirmed the existence of a ‘potentially significant’ mineralised system that warrants further work.

Meanwhile, the other 11 holes came from the Mammoth target and were designed to test for gold mineralisation associated with various structures potentially interacting with a dolerite contact zone.

However, Rincon says only one hole hit this dolerite at 239m deep.

Three other holes all returned zones of anomalous gold mineralisation despite having not intersected the dolerite contact zone, with a top result of 8m @ 1.08 g/t gold from 228m.

Rincon says all holes drilled along the northeast side of the dolerite failed to reach the contact zone and, as such, potential breccia and stockwork-style mineralisation along this zone is yet to be tested.

In any case, Rincon Managing Director Gary Harvey says he’s encouraged by the recent drilling results at South Tefler.

“They have confirmed the presence of gold mineralisation associated with targeted structures at both Westin and Mammoth and, importantly, have provided sufficient evidence to warrant further investigation.

Gold-pathfinder geochemistry has also told us we are in a potentially significant mineralised system at Westin. The fact that we have observed similar geology, structures, and alteration like that observed at Dolphy and Ironclad, just 8km northwest along-trend, is telling us we may not be too far away from a new discovery.”

“Gold-pathfinder geochemistry has also told us we are in a potentially significant mineralised system at Westin”

He says the company will now take some time to ‘fully digest’ its new drilling data before planning its next exploration steps.

Alongside South Tefler, Rincon also owns the Laverton Gold Project and the Kiwirrkurra Project, both in Western Australia.
