Resources dominate the TSX Venture Exchange’s ‘Rising Stars’

The TSX Venture Exchange has listed the top 50 biggest movers in the past three months, and 60% are resources stocks.

The highest gainer in the resources space for the three months to 3 June 2024 is Artemis Gold (TSX-V:ARTG), which advanced 3.5% to C$11 ($12.07), earning it second place.

Artemis is progressing the construction of its Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia and anticipates it will pour first gold in the second half of this year.

Critical minerals explorer Bravo Mining (TSX-V:BRVO) comes in at third place with a 2.2% advance to C$4.12, followed by uranium explorer Bedford Metals (TSX-V:BFM) with a gain of 1.5% to C$2.14.

Last week, Bravo Mining announced it had intersected “high-grade” iron oxide copper-gold-style massive sulphide mineralisation during drill testing of the T5 and T6 targets at its Luanga platinum group metals-nickel-gold deposit in Brazil.

One intercept returned 1.48m @ 14.3% copper and 3.3 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, including 2.9m @ 22.9% copper and 3.6g/t gold at the T5 target.

Meanwhile, last month Bedford Metals completed the acquisition of the Close Lake Project in the Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan, which adjoins claims held by Cameco Corporation, one of the world’s largest uranium producers.

Gold producer Mako Mining (TSX-V:MKO) ranks fifth in the list, with shares rising 1.4% to C$3.41.

In May, the company reported gold sales of US$19.2 million ($28.7 million) for the first quarter of 2024. This generated US$10.4 million in operating cash flow and US$5.3 million in net income.

Mako operates the San Albino gold mine in Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua, which it says “ranks as one of the highest-grade open pit gold mines globally”.

Coming in at number six with shares advancing 1.3% to C$20.38, Sigma Lithium (TSX-V:SGML) in May loaded the ninth shipment of its high-purity Quintuple Zero Green lump lithium concentrate, totalling 22,000 tonnes, at the Port of Vitoria in Brazil.

Encore Energy (TSX-V:EU), Metalla Royalty and Streaming (TSX-V:MTA), Chesapeake Gold (TSX-V:CKG), and Regulus Resources (TSX-V:REG) rounded out the top 10.

In the past three months, Lavras Gold (TSX-V:LGC) has edged up almost 1% to C$1.75, while Power Nickel (TSX-V:PNPN) is up around 0.5% at C$0.70.

Power Nickel is continuing to expand near-surface mineralisation at its Nisk Project in Québec, Canada, after making a multi-element discovery at the Lion prospect.

The company says it is offsetting the carbon footprint of 30,000m of drilling at the Nisk Project.

Lavras, meanwhile, has not had much news out recently, but back in February announced it intersected 173m @ 1 gram per tonne gold from 69m at the Fazenda do Posto gold discovery, located on the western edge of the LDS Project in southern Brazil.

Gold mineralisation was intersected in five of the six holes.
