Renegade investigates competing Mustang claims

Renegade Exploration (ASX:RNX) has confirmed it is investigating competing mining claims lodged over the same ground at its newly staked Mustang prospect in California’s Mountain Pass district — a region known for its gold and rare earth potential.

The company said it was made aware another party had constructed stakes for rival claims after its contractor initially pegged the area on 18 September 2025. At the time, no other monuments or notices of location were observed across the site.

Under US mining law, seniority of a claim depends on when a notice of location is affixed — a key determinant of ownership priority. A properly staked and recorded claim takes precedence over any subsequent claim covering the same ground.

Renegade said it has launched an on-the-ground investigation in California to confirm when the competing claims were made and to verify the validity of its own.

The company has returned to site to recheck stakes, take comparison photographs, and gather GPS and time-stamped evidence as part of its review.

Pending the outcome of the investigation, Renegade may consider legal proceedings to protect its interests if the dispute cannot be resolved amicably.

The company reiterated it will continue to update the market on the validity of its claims in line with ASX continuous disclosure requirements.

Renegade retains assets across Australia, the US, and Canada, including projects in Nevada, California, and Queensland’s Cloncurry region.
