Base and precious metals developer Redstone Resources (ASX:RDS) has uncovered for the first time, a potential nickel-copper-cobalt-platinum group elements host intersected on the company’s West Musgrave Project in Western Australia.
The company states this discovery ‘significantly’ upgrades the project for Ni-Cu-Co-PGE prospectivity, especially considering the western boundary for the project area is 40km east of the now BHP (ASX:BHP) owned Nebo Babel Ni-Cu-Co-PGE deposit.
Additionally, the discovery comes forth after geochemistry analysis returned from the most recent reverse circulation (RC) drilling program, completed in late 2022, revealed that the mafic-ultramafic intrusion was intersected from beneath the 5m of cover to 83m in drillholes TLC183 and TLC196.

Redstone says it is probable that the intrusion is, or at least was originally, thicker than this 83m (downhole) thickness.
The mafic-ultramafic intrusion comprises of a hydroxy-magnesium (Hi-Mg) Gabbro at the top of the intersection and transitions into a more Gabbro-Norite composition at its base where magnesium oxide (MgO) concentration ranges between 12% to 18% MgO.
Additionally, in drillhole TLC183 chromium (Cr) concentration ranges between 0.09% to 0.16% and Ni concentration ranges between 0.06% to 0.136% from around 55m.
further research and analysis will be conducted to confirm the Gabbro-Norite classification and whether any of the nickel is in a sulphide base
Further assay results are yet to be received from the most recent RC drill campaign.
Redstone reports that further research and analysis will be conducted to confirm the Gabbro-Norite classification and whether any of the nickel is in a sulphide base.
Additionally, the company will also continue investigations and review potential new value accretive project opportunities for various minerals in Australia and abroad to add to Redstone’s project portfolio.
The West Musgrave Project is located between the Nebo Babel deposit and Nico Resources’ (ASX:NC1) Wingellina Ni-Co Project. The project is underexplored, with limited exploration within the 210km-square project area.
Therefore, the company says it is ‘significant’ that it has ‘successfully’ proven the presence of the mafic-ultramafic target rocks on its project early in its exploration efforts.
Redstone Resources is an ASX-listed company focused on the exploration of its wholly owned West Musgrave Project, which includes the Tollu Copper deposit in Western Australia.
