Redstone Resources (ASX:RDS) is planning a preliminary field program across its Radisson East and Sakami Lithium projects in the James Bay region of Quebec, Canada.
The exploration company aims to assess the ‘highest-prospectivity’ areas, confirm the presence of pegmatite outcrops, and test for lithium mineralisation as part of the program.
Fieldwork will include mapping, outcrop sampling, and geochemical sampling over the initial targets.
This news comes after Redstone identified several areas of potential pegmatite outcrop within both projects via multispectral analysis.
Dirt Exploration consultant Dr Neil Pendock analysed historical data collected in 2021 and 2009 over the project areas and confirmed that mapped areas over both projects correspond to several exploration targets interpreted to potentially correlate with LCT pegmatites
Redstone Resources Chairman Richard Homsany says these findings demonstrate the ‘strong’ potential for lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) mineralised pegmatites to be hosted within its James Bay tenements.
“Following these positive indications, our initial follow-up field campaign will aim to further test these priority target areas for lithium mineralisation ahead of a maiden drilling program.
The Radisson East and Sakami projects, combined with our recent acquisition of additional projects in James Bay and Northwest Ontario, provide Redstone with a significant foundation to build a high-quality lithium exploration and development business in a tier one mining jurisdiction.”
“The Radisson East and Sakami projects … provide Redstone with a significant foundation to build a high-quality lithium exploration and development business in a tier one mining jurisdiction”
The findings from the multispectral analysis show that the Sakami South claim package demonstrates the ‘highest prospectivity’ and is underlain by geological units considered highly prospective for hosting LCT pegmatites, according to Redstone.
The Radisson Project covers a 21.9km-square area, and the Sakami Project covers 67.8km-square area. Both projects lie within the La Grande sub-province of Quebec, Canada.
Redstone Resources is a Perth-based diversified minerals explorer focused on discovering base, precious, and critical minerals. The company has assets across Australia and Canada.
As of 30 September 2023, the company had $572,000 cash and cash equivalents at hand, although it still expects to receive a research and development (R&D) rebate of $228,000 before fees, according to its latest quarterly report.
The company says the R&D rebate is assessed under the Australian Taxation Office’s self-assessment system and is expected to be received during the December quarter of 2023.
