RareX to commence drilling at Khaleesi, targeting gallium and rare earths

RareX (ASX:REE) has announced plans to commence reverse circulation drilling at the Khaleesi Alkaline Intrusive Complex (KAIC) Project in July 2026, testing five targets over 3,500m for gallium, rare earth elements, and high field strength elements.

Drill targets have been selected based on geochemistry from historic gold exploration aircore drilling and geophysical anomalies from historical detailed magnetics and gravity surveys.

The company notes that all of the targets have mineralised carbonatite potential, with gallium potential as well.

The KAIC is around 260km northeast of Kalgoorlie and includes six exploration licences across 790km2. The Niobe Prospect is an 8km by 3.5km intrusive that outcrops over the centre of the tenement and will be tested for a large gallium system and carbonatite mineralisation.

Managing Director and CEO James Durrant says the company is pleased to be mobilising the drill to Khaleesi.

“This drilling campaign has been carefully designed to test our highest priority targets, from the large gallium system at Niobe through to the geophysical anomalies that may represent carbonatite bodies within the complex.

“This project has experienced access and permitting complexities that have now been sorted and we look forward to reporting results as they come to hand.”

While RareX was awarded an Exploration Incentive Scheme drilling grant, the recent fuel availability crisis meant the company was unable to meet the 30 May 2026 deadline required to receive the grant.

For the current drill program, all prerequisites are in place, including access agreements for both fuel and water infrastructure with Deep Yellow (ASX:DYL), fuel agreements with suppliers, flora and fauna management measures, and cultural heritage surveyors.
