RareX Cummins

RareX receives Cummins Range mining lease

RareX (ASX:REE) has been granted a mining lease from the Western Australian Government for its Cummins Range Project, located 135km southeast of Halls Creek.

CEO James Durrant says the company will focus on metallurgy and development planning for the Cummins Range Project in order to unlock the assets’ “full multi-critical-minerals potential”.

“The granting of the mining lease is a pivotal milestone for RareX, noting that mining approvals are often the longest-lead and highest-risk component of project development,” Durrant says.

“Securing the lease materially de-risks the Cummins Range asset.”

Towards the end of 2025, RareX signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with US Strategic Metals in order to create a processing and supply chain development between Australia and the US, as reported by Mining.com.au.

RareX’s Cummins Range Project in Western Australia is a near-permitted multi-critical mineral deposit containing rare earths, gallium, scandium, and phosphate.

The project holds a resource estimate of 1.6 million tonnes of total rare earth oxides and 24 million tonnes of phosphate.
