Rapid takes critical steps via board restructure

Rapid Critical Metals (ASX:RCM) has appointed John Poynton as a non-executive Chairman, to follow an upcoming extraordinary general meeting on 24 November 2025.

Managing Director Byron Miles says the appointment of Poynton is a “significant step” in the company’s plans to become a silver producer.

“John’s experience in the corporate, investment and mining sectors will be highly beneficial to Rapid,” Miles says.

Poynton has accumulated decades worth of experience as an investment banker, focusing on equity, debt, infrastructure, and property matters.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and honorary Doctor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia, and was also awarded as the Western Australian Citizen of the Year in the industry and commerce category in 2006.

Poynton currently acts as Executive Chairman of privately held Poynton Stavrianou and is a non-executive Director for Perth Airport. He has also served on the Australian Securities Exchange’s (ASX) board of directors.

Other board restructures include non-executive Chairman Rick Anthon’s transition to non-executive Director, and non-executive Director Daniel Smith’s resignation from the board, effective today (22 October).

“I would also like to thank Dan Smith, who joined the board in late 2024 following the acquisition of Midwest Lithium, for his strong contribution to improving the company’s corporate governance protocols,” Miles adds.

Rapid Critical Metals is a silver and gallium explorer focused on advancing high-grade projects in New South Wales and British Columbia.
