Provenance Gold (CSE:PAU) is expanding the Eldorado West Gold Project in eastern Oregon, US, after receiving results from an ongoing reverse circulation drilling program.
Initial drilling was designed to confirm the extent of gold mineralisation within zones one through four in the Tyee area, as well as demonstrate connectivity between the zones while identifying the feeder structure of the gold system.
A second drill rig has been commissioned for the next phase of the drilling season, to enable selected core drilling to take place in addition to further reverse circulation drilling. Additional drilling will further evaluate and confirm the geological model.
To date, all 10 holes returned intersected gold mineralisation, confirming broad, coherent and pervasive zones extending the open-ended gold mineralisation from east to west over 800m.
The holes also uncovered new mineralisation in a previously untested area between zones two, three, and four.
As such, Provenance says drilling has demonstrated broad shallow-dipping mineralisation in laterally extensive sheets, punctuated by high-grade intercepts within steeply dipping structures that are likely to serve as feeder zones.
Chairman Rauno Perttu says the project continues to experience growth.
“We were particularly pleased by the large intervals of open-pit grade mineralisation shown in holes ED-16, ED-18, ED-19, ED-20, and ED-21 and the substantial open-pit grade mineralisation close to surface in holes ED-12, ED-13, and ED-14,” Perttu says.
“Our refined geological model, updated in light of early drilling results, indicates multiple high-grade feeder zones interconnected by open-pit grade mineralisation, likely aligned along structural corridors.
“Equally compelling, in my view, is the deposit’s outstanding economic potential: widespread near-surface gold mineralisation, minimal overburden and excellent metallurgical recoveries all point to robust margins.”
The continuing drilling will expand south to the Herman area testing historical intercepts. Additional drill locations will continue developing the western portion of the Tyee area around zone four and continue to prove the continuity of the mineralisation over the entire area.
Assay results are pending for five holes totalling 843m of drilling.
The Eldorado Project, located 60km northwest of Vale in Malheur, Oregon, has a historical resource estimate of 1.98 million ounces @ 0.753 grams per tonne gold.
