Prospect Resources (ASX:PSC) has intersected ‘high-grade’ copper mineralisation beyond the existing resource boundary at the Nyungu Central deposit within its Mumbezhi Copper Project in Zambia.
Phase three diamond drilling returned 44m @ 0.60% copper (Cu) from 270m in NCDD026 and 17m @ 0.57% Cu from 186.37m in NCDD024. NCDD026 also intersected 1.74m @ 0.36% Cu from 146.74m.
The reported intervals are downhole lengths, with true widths yet to be determined.
Both broader intersections lie southeast of the May 2026 indicated and inferred mineral resource boundary. The Nyungu Central resource totals 154.4 million tonnes (Mt) @ 0.42% Cu, or 0.51% Cu equivalent, using a 0.2% Cu cut-off grade.
Prospect says the results appear to be associated with a continuous, shallow airborne electromagnetic anomaly and extend the mineralised system to the southeast, where it remains open.
The company has completed 13 phase three diamond holes totalling 4,043m at the southern end of Nyungu Central. Priority assays are pending from six holes containing visually logged copper sulphides.
One rig continues to test shallower mineralisation outside the existing resource positions at Nyungu Central, while a second has begun exploratory drilling at Nyungu West.
CEO Sam Hosack says the grades and widths compare favourably with the existing Nyungu Central resource.
“These intercepts are being returned from relatively shallow, up-plunge positions relative to the currently defined mineralisation at Nyungu Central and remain open to the southeast,” Hosack says.
Prospect plans to begin a separate 6,000m infill diamond drilling program at Nyungu Central in late July. The company says the program is designed to convert inferred resources to the indicated category.
The wider Mumbezhi Project hosts an indicated and inferred mineral resource of 208.1Mt @ 0.42% Cu for 877,000 tonnes of contained Cu.
Prospect notes it expects to test the Kamafamba and Chipimpa targets later this quarter and is targeting completion of a Scoping Study in Q1 2027.
