Power Metallic Mines (TSX-V:PNPN) has expanded the Lion Zone within the Nisk Project in Québec, Canada, after receiving results from five holes drilled in the 2025 winter drilling program.
During the winter program, the company explored multiple zones including the Lion, Nisk, Nisk East, and Tiger zones. The targets extend over 8km of strike of favourable stratigraphy.
The five holes returned were testing the down plunge extent of the Lion Zone and a large off-hole electromagnetic anomaly detected in drillhole PN-24-093. All holes intersected Lion-style polymetallic mineralisation.
Power Metallic notes high-grade gold, silver and copper mineralisation was encountered within the ultramafic layered intrusion, with hole PN-25-096 returning 1.95m @ 13.54 grams per tonne gold, 236.6g/t silver, 1.08% copper, 0.21% nickel, and 0.21g/t palladium.
In contrast, holes PN-25-100 and PML-25-001 and 002 tested the deeper eastern side of the plunge on the Lion Zone. Power Metallic says these holes are missing the lower grade disseminated mineralisation, “returning narrow high grade only”.
“But the massive sulphide mineralisation in these areas are very high grade and copper dominant. In particular, holes PML-25-001 and 002 have sub-meter massive sulphides that graded 15% copper and 29.3% copper respectively, with significant nickel, palladium, and silver grades,” the company reports.
“These massive sulphide zones suggest a change in the character of Lion from the shallower drill intersections containing high precious metals (Pd, Pt, Ag, Au) that helped carry the CuEqRec value. This change may represent possible closer proximity to a Ni/Cu massive sulphide deposit that is characteristic of other polymetallic districts in the world, but that have yet to be discovered at the Nisk project.”
CEO Terry Lynch says with each of set of assays, the company is growing the Lion Zone.
“We are defining some of the borders of the zone even as we are advancing it at depth,” Lynch says.
“The high-grade hits here are exciting and we think meaningful clues on richer mineralised areas that are in close proximity.”
The Nisk Project comprises a 20km strike length and is considered prospective for nickel, copper, cobalt, palladium and platinum.
