Port Hedland iron ore exports flat during September 2022

Port Hedland iron ore export volumes held steady during September 2022, with volume increasing by 0.2% over the previous month.

Sales to China were up by 1% month-on-month at 39,698,989 tonnes. The figure represented a 2.8% increase in tonnage compared to the same month in 2021.

Sales to Japan declined by 0.4% month-on-month to 2,243,516 tonnes, while shipments to South Korea dropped by 12.8% to 2,845,494 tonnes.

Spodumene concentrate exports saw a 46.5% month-on-month increase to 98,921 tonnes, while copper concentrate exports declined by 50% to 17,462 tonnes.

Manganese ore exports slid by 51% during May, with a total of 72,400 tonnes shipped to China.
