Pioneer Minerals (ASX:PMM) has begun physical works to reopen the historical Springfield Mine access road at its North Pine Project in Idaho, US.
Idaho-based contractor Dig Earth has mobilised to the site, beginning road rehabilitation and clearing activities.
Pioneer says the works will provide immediate and critical site access to support the mobilisation of personnel and equipment for upcoming exploration and development activities.
The Springfield Mine access road will function as the primary access to the Springfield prospect, materially reducing exploration costs that came from helicopter-supported mobilisation.
Planned exploration activities that will benefit from these works include bulk sampling, geological mapping, rock chip sampling, and electromagnetic geophysical surveys.
CEO Michael Beven says the start of these works to reopen the road is an “important operational milestone” for the Springfield prospect and “transitions the project from permitting into active field execution”.
“Initial contractor activities have encountered and cleared substantial obstructions, including extensive fallen timber, wildfire impacts, and access restrictions that had accumulated over decades,” Beven says.
“Re-establishing road access is expected to materially improve site logistics, reduce mobilisation costs, and support the next phase of exploration activities, including bulk sampling, geological fieldwork, and geophysical surveys.
“With field activities now underway, Pioneer continues to advance Springfield through the 2026 exploration season and future drilling activities under the submitted plan of operations.”
