Pioneer Lithium (ASX:PLN) has mobilised its geological team to the Root Lake Lithium Project in Ontario, Canada, to begin its summer fieldwork program.
The program will include targeted mechanical stripping and trenching, designed to remove superficial cover and expose outcrops in three locations on the property.
Results from this work are expected to provide valuable geological information that supports Pioneer in refining and maximising a maiden drilling program.
Executive Chairman Robert Martin says the team has been working to uncover targets and areas of interest generated from the short work program undertaken before the winter snowfall last year.
“This fieldwork campaign will help the team develop a robust drilling campaign to give the company and its shareholders the best possible opportunity to make a discovery,” he says.
The three target areas will see 1,000m2 of trenching, focused on the extensions of known spodumene-bearing pegmatite fields adjacent to the property boundary. The targets also encompass a spodumene pegmatite discovery within Root Lake and over 91 other pegmatite outcrops.
All trenches will be mapped in detail, including lithological and mineralogy observations with the support of aerial drone georeferenced images and spatial data.
The Root Lake Project covers 1,927 hectares and is contiguous with Green Technology Metals (ASX:GT1) Root and McCombe pegmatite fields.
