Pioneer kicks off fieldwork at LaGrande

Pioneer Lithium (ASX:PLN) has begun a maiden fieldwork campaign across its wholly owned LaGrande Lithium Project in the James Bay region of Quebec, Canada.

The reconnaissance fieldwork program is being conducted in conjunction with experienced lithium geological consultancy IOS Services Geoscientifiques (IOS).

The program will include geological mapping to uncover pegmatite outcrops, structural interpretation, and rock chip sample collection for geological analysis.

Pioneer, which has a market capitalisation of $13.56 million, says this program aims to identify favourable host rocks and the geotectonic setting — as well as test for the dispersion of lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatite-associated geochemistry and accessory minerals — in the project area.

Results from the program are expected to enhance the understanding of LaGrande and help the company plan future exploration programs.

Pioneer Lithium Managing Director Clinton Booth, who just completed a site visit to the Root Lake project area ahead of maiden drilling work, says the company is looking forward to receiving and reporting the results from this LaGrande campaign.

“It is a great effort from IOS and the team to have mobilised so quickly and already commenced
prospecting and mapping at LaGrande. We are looking forward to receiving and reporting the results
of this fieldwork campaign.

It was a tremendous opportunity to see first-hand the prospecting and mapping work performed at Root Lake, visit the camp laydown area, and to discuss plans for the winter drilling campaign.

Being able to experience the high-quality road network which provides direct access to the site, as well as the internal project access roads, was invaluable. This experience provides great insights as we plan our future activities.”

Further, meetings have been held in Toronto with various ministries, including Indigenous Affairs and Northern Development, Mining and Energy, to discuss Pioneer’s projects in Ontario.

Pioneer Lithium is a North America-focused battery minerals explorer with projects in Ontario and Quebec. As of 30 September 2023, the company had $4.37 million cash at hand, according to its latest quarterly report.
