Pan Asia Metals (ASX:PAM) has its sights set on a drilling program later this year, following the discovery of an “abundant” lepidolite pegmatite zone at its RK Lithium Project in Thailand.
Part of the KT prospect, the new zone is 1.5km long and 500m wide, with individual dykes identified up to 20m wide, with many 7m to 10m wide, ranging down to 1m or less.
Pan Asia says further pegmatites, or extensions to previously mapped pegmatites, have been uncovered. The field team has identified a historic alluvial and eluvial dump — remnants from historic tin mining — where rock chips grading 1.74% and 1.64% lithium oxide were taken.
The dump is about 70% lepidolite pegmatites. Other dumps and samples are also located immediately to the west.
Managing Director Paul Lock says Pan Asia’s field team has now begun a soil and rock chip sampling and geological mapping program.
“Initial gridding reports have been very encouraging, and we await formal results before providing an update on the program in a week or so,” he says.
“KT presents PAM a substantial extension to RK and BT prospects and, with the KT footprint already larger than RK and BT combined, KT has the potential to add substantial tonnes, which means potential for an extended project life and/or increased annual lithium carbonate equivalent production.
“These results are feeding into discussions with strategic partners, so the KT exploration success is timely.”
Pan Asia notes preliminary drill sites have been identified along with several walk-up targets, with more sites to assess.
The RK Lithium Project is a lepidolite-style project that lies about 70km northeast of Phuket, Thailand.
