Olympio Metals (ASX:OLY) is heading to Toronto for next week’s Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention and is on the hunt for new opportunities.
Managing Director Sean Delaney tells Mining.com.au that the junior explorer acquired its Dufay Copper-Gold Project in Québec after the vendors paid a visit to the company’s booth at PDAC last year.
Olympio also this week announced it had secured an option to acquire an 80% stake in Bousquet Gold Project in Québec.
“It makes sense when we have a project in Canada to attend the largest conference,” Delaney says.
“There’s always opportunities from attending.
“We have the Dufay Project in Québec and the just announced Bousquet gold acquisition, also in Québec on the Cadillac Break, so we want to introduce participants to Olympio.”
Olympio is based in West Perth and listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, but sees opportunities in exploration in Québec because of the tightness in the capital markets in Canada and the difficulty in raising funds.
“Our geology team considers our recently acquired Dufay, and particularly Bousquet, to be significantly underexplored when compared to an Australian project, for example around the goldfields in Western Australia,” Delaney says.
Both the Dufay and Bousquest projects are located within the Cadillac-Lake Larder Fault Zone, also known as the Cadillac Break, which is host to over 110 million ounces of gold, along with copper.
Numerous multi-million ounce gold deposits occur peripheral to, and within 2km of, the Cadillac Break including Kerr Addison (11Moz), Bousquet (15Moz), Val d’Or (15Moz) and Malartic (10Moz).
The Dufay Project, which comprises 115 contiguous mining claims spanning 60km2, includes 10km strike exposure to the Cadillac Break.
Olympio plans to start drilling at the project in early March.
Meanwhile, the acquisition of the Bousquet Project is slated for completion in March and the company plans to undertake drilling there as soon as possible.
PDAC is being held from 2-5 March in Toronto, Canada and brings together up to 30,000 attendees from over 130 countries for its educational programming, networking events, as well as business and investment opportunities.
