Olympio Metals (ASX:OLY) has discovered extensive copper mineralisation at the Dasserat deposit following a drilling program at the Dufay Project in Québec in Canada.
The Olympio exploration team is currently in the field in Québec examining the recently drilled diamond core and mapping the Dasserat prospect in light of the encouraging drill results.
Further induced polarisation (IP) surveys are being considered, with a view to defining the scale of the disseminated copper mineralisation at depth and in relation to the nearby syenite porphyry.
A recent diamond drilling program covered 10 holes over 1,875m at the Chevrier and Dasserat targets, returning a total of 912 samples to be submitted for analysis at AGAT Laboratory in Calgary.
Results have intersected multiple zones of copper mineralisation across a strike length of 850m, averaging from 0.09% and 0.12% copper with thickness between 15m and 27m. Drillhole DU-25-06 includes 0.35m of 1.64% copper between 83.95m and 84.3m.
Managing Director Sean Delaney says the company is pleased to define the mineralisation that contains “significant” width and strike extent.
“The implications of this discovery are still being considered. The depth extent of the mineralised zone remains to be tested, as does any possible relationship to the nearby syenite porphyry to the immediate north. Our geological team are developing a plan for the next stage of expanding this exciting discovery,” Delaney says.
Geophysical IP and electromagnetic plate modelling first indicated a close spatial reconciliation between copper-sulphide zones before drilling, which Alchemy believes improves confidence of these methods.
“The success of the IP and electromagnetic methods in accurately modelling copper-sulphide mineralised zones at Dasserat gives us great confidence that these methods can be utilised at other priority targets across the Dufay Project,” Delaney says.
The Duffay Project is proximal to the Cadillac-Lake Larder Fault Zone, also known as the Cadillac Break, and Fokus Mining’s (TSXV:FKM) 1.4 million ounce gold equivalent Galloway gold deposit.
The exploration team is currently examining the drilled diamond core and mapping of the prospect, with further induced polarisation surveys considered in future. Surveying will define the scale of disseminated copper mineralisation, related to local syenite porphyry.
Olympio Metals is an exploration company that is focused on the development of critical minerals projects in both Australia and Canada.
