OD6 Metals (ASX:OD6) is streamlining phase two of drilling at its Gulf Creek Copper Project in New South Wales, after identifying a “strong” relationship between magnetism and the massive sulphide mineralisation in phase one.
The company will prioritise greenfield targets for seven holes across 1,750m with potential to expand the drilling campaign to 25 drillholes across a 7,500m area, already approved by the NSW Resources Regulator.
Managing Director Brett Hazelden explains that OD6 is focusing on the Big Bend, North West, and West Limb targets, after phase one of drilling deepened the company’s understanding of mineralisation beneath the historical Gulf Creek Mine, confirming a grade of 4.6% copper.
“These untested magnetic structures extend over approximately 3km, with modelled depths exceeding 500m, and were a key driver behind OD6’s acquisition of the project,” Hazelden says.
Drilling intends to test a segment of a 3km untested strike located in the Gulf Creek Mine stratigraphy, with the three targets prospective for strong magnetism, surface jaspilites and copper anomalism.
Big Bend is noted to have an increased induced polarisation geophysics effect.
“They are compelling targets with the potential to deliver a large-scale copper system,” Hazelden adds.
“Gulf Creek complements our flagship Splinter Rock Rare Earth Project by providing OD6 with exposure to a high-grade copper asset in a proven mining district.”
Upon completion of phase two drilling, OD6 intends to conduct downhole electromagnetic and magnetic susceptibility surveys to pinpoint follow up targets, while also refining the company’s understanding of mineralisation at the project.
