OD6 Metals (ASX:OD6) has begun the first systematic exploration program at the Quinn Fluorspar Project, located in the US, in 60 years.
Through the company’s wholly owned subsidiary US Fluorspar, Rangefront Mining Services has been engaged to conduct the first concerted exploration program on the project.
Rangefront is mobilising a team of experienced personnel to undertake the program.
An initial 320 samples were collected, designed to develop knowledge on anomalism in and around the known deposit and to target key alteration corridors for potential additional fluorspar discovery.
This includes targeting the Horseshoe, Mammoth and Horseshoe Jumbo deposits, as well as the Lithocap, Rocket-Big Jim-Spar and Dress Circle targets.
Initial assays are currently pending laboratory analysis, with results to be released progressively.
Two geologists have also been sourced for a mapping and sampling campaign, which is scheduled to begin sometime this month. This work will include detailed channel sampling of the known deposits at Horseshoe and Mammoth, as well as a reconnaissance program to pin-point and sample other historical occurrences of fluorspar recorded throughout the project area.
Managing Director Brett Hazelden says the program is focused on building a robust geochemical and geological framework across the known “high-grade” deposits and newly identified alteration systems.
“The scale of alteration and widespread high-grade fluorspar occurrences highlight the strong potential for additional discoveries across the project area,” Hazelden says.
OD6 is continuing due diligence activities, alongside compiling historical reports and building its geological dataset across Quinn.
Earlier this year, OD6 entered into an exclusive option agreement to acquire the Quinn Project, located 220km north of Las Vegas, Nevada.
The US is currently 100% reliant on imports of fluorspar. Fluorspar is listed as a critical mineral due to its applications in battery technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) chip manufacturers, nuclear fuels industry, aerospace and defence technologies.
OD6 Metals is a critical minerals explorer and developer with assets mostly in Australia and the US.
