OD6 Metals (ASX:OD6) has confirmed its role in contributing to the industry-led framework that supports Australia’s Critical Minerals Strategic Reserve (CMSR) that has been advanced by the Association of Mining Exploration Companies (AMEC).
The CMSR concept paper was supported by a consortium of Australian rare earth and critical minerals developers and other stakeholders, and outlines a strategic policy framework showing how a sustainable and bankable CMSR solution could be structured.
The impetus behind this is to provide greater market certainty for producers, to strengthen supply chain resilience, and support long-term offtake pathways for critical minerals.
OD6 is currently advancing the Splinter Rock Rare Earth Project, located near Esperance in Western Australia and the company’s participation in the CMSR demonstrates a commitment to Australia’s role as a key global supplier of critical minerals.
Managing Director Brett Hazelden says that “the company looks forward to ongoing engagement with the Australian Government, AMEC, peak industry stakeholders, and international partners to support the implementation and operationalisation of the CMSR in a manner that balances Australia’s sovereign interests, market-based solutions, and commercial viability for participating producers”.
On 12 January 2026, the Australian Government released details of a $1.2 billion critical minerals strategic reserve, which will help to secure the supply of key critical minerals for Australia’s economy and national security.
OD6 is progressing its portfolio of critical minerals in Western Australia, with a focus on rare earth elements and value-add pathways for national and global supply chain needs.
