OD6 Metals (ASX:OD6) has rediscovered what it considers to be the ‘highest grade’ fluorspar at its Quinn Project in Nevada.
OD6 reveals the project’s historically referenced ‘high-grade’ Big Jim Fluorspar Lode contains a ‘significant new drill target’ in the mineral system.
Historic US Geological Survey reports note Big Jim Fluorspar workings in targeted field reconnaissance. They also recorded massive 98.6% fluorspar mineralisation exposed at surface level, a tunnel inferred to be the Big Jim Lode, and other extensive ‘high-grade’ systems.
Multiple rock samples have been collected and are pending assay work. Metallurgical samples have also been collected and testing is underway for further optical sorting, crushing, grinding, and flotation.
“Through some clever geological detective work and historic descriptions dating back to the 1940s, the Nevada team was able to narrow the search area for the Big Jim Fluorspar Lode,” Managing Director Brett Hazelden says.
“This has now been located and presents a third extensive fluorspar system, with Horseshoe and Mammoth on the Quinn Project to target for the drill out.”
Field observations and historic data are based on information compiled by Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Fellow Darren Holden, who works for GeoSpy and is also a geological advisor to OD6.
